Object Desciption On 29 January 1944, now assigned to the aircraft carrier Intrepid (CV 11), Lieutenant Commander Harry W. Harrison led Fighting Squadron (VF) 6 on a raid against Kwajalein, describing the events and sketching the target in his diary. Subsequent entries include reference to radio dispatches between Intrepid and the battleship North Carolina (BB 55) that mention Harrison.
Notes Lieutenant Harry W. "Stinky" Harrison, Jr., assumed command of Fighting Squadron (VF) 6 on
11 October 1943 and relinquished command in August 1944. He was a career fighter pilot, having flown
Grumman biplanes as a cadet in the fleet during the late 1930s and served as Executive Office of VF-5.
